Code of Conduct

The mission of Byrd Cancer Education & Advocacy Foundation is to support individuals in their fight against cancer, providing resources, advocacy, and a platform for community connection. We aim to foster an inclusive environment where conversations can flourish, ideas are shared, and support is given freely.

However, Byrd Cancer Education & Advocacy Foundation is not a place for behavior that is inappropriate, off-topic, disruptive, abusive, or illegal.

Inappropriate Behavior

Inappropriate behavior includes actions that violate our policies or protocols (including those related to health, safety, and wellbeing), or undermine the spirit of our mission. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Written, verbal, or physical abuse or threats.
  • Illegal, disruptive, or harmful activity.
  • Use of derogatory or discriminatory language, gestures, or actions.
  • Harassment, racism, sexism, or any other form of targeted harmful comments.
  • Violation of local, state, or federal laws.

This Code of Conduct applies to behavior during all events hosted or associated with Byrd Cancer Education & Advocacy Foundation, including in-person gatherings, digital platforms, social media interactions, and other communication channels.

Byrd Cancer Education & Advocacy Foundation may take appropriate action in response to individuals or groups that fail to meet the standards set forth in this Code of Conduct. This may include, without limitation, revoking participation or access to events or services, without refund.

Public Health Guidelines

During in-person events, we expect all attendees to adhere to the current public health guidelines related to safety, hygiene, and communicable illnesses (including COVID-19). These guidelines will be communicated in advance and should be followed to ensure the safety of all participants.
