Byrd Cancer Wellness Expo 2025: Meet Our Featured Speakers
The Byrd Cancer Education & Advocacy Foundation is thrilled to announce the featured speakers for the 2nd Annual Byrd Cancer Wellness Expo, taking place on Saturday, April 19, 2025, in Philadelphia, PA. This year’s event promises to deliver meaningful discussions, practical resources, and inspiring stories for cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and their families.
This year’s Expo will feature engaging conversations on survivorship, holistic cancer care, caregiving, and practical planning for the future. The event is designed to empower attendees with tools and insights to navigate the challenges of cancer with confidence and support.
One of the key highlights will be a panel discussion titled “Thrivers/Survivors: What Doctors Wish We Knew About Cancer.” This session will feature Alicia Henry Harris, the founder of Journi For Two, alongside Nancy Chamberlain and Kiana Wooten. Together, they will share their personal journeys as cancer thrivers, discuss the challenges faced by survivors, and provide invaluable insights on what medical professionals want patients and families to understand throughout the cancer journey.
Another session, “The Best of Both Worlds: Integrating Western Medicine and Holistic Healing,” will highlight the importance of combining traditional cancer treatments with alternative therapies. Sue Weldon, the founder of Unite for HER, and Emily Green, a pediatric ICU nurse and the founder of Lyte Guard, will share their expertise on managing side effects and enhancing overall wellness through complementary approaches.
Caregivers will also take center stage at this year’s Expo with the session “Prioritize YOU: A Caregiver’s Guide to Balance and Support.” Audrey Davis, Senior Director of Health Equity at Cancer Support Community, Representative Jordan Harris, and caregiver advocate Lena Edwards will discuss the often-overlooked struggles of caregiving. This session will provide strategies for caregivers to find balance and prioritize their own mental health while supporting their loved ones.
Planning for the future is a critical aspect of navigating life with or after cancer. The workshop “Planning for the Future: Financial and Legal Essentials” will equip attendees with knowledge about estate planning, health insurance, and cancer-focused financial strategies. Featured experts will include Ken Ward of Aflac, Maurice Miller of New York Life, and Craig Williams of Guru Agency, who will provide practical guidance on creating wills, establishing power of attorney, and exploring cancer-specific insurance options.
In addition to these powerful discussions, the Expo will include free health screenings, interactive wellness workshops, live cooking demonstrations on cancer nutrition, and an exhibitor hall featuring local vendors and resources.
The All Things Cancer + Wellness Expo continues to serve as a vital resource for the community, bringing together healthcare professionals, survivors, caregivers, and advocates in a supportive and educational environment.
