In January Paige chose to have a preventative double mastectomy after finding out she had the BRCA 1 gene mutation. She was 24 years old and felt completely anxious, alone and afraid.
When she looked for support or guidance online, Paige was very discouraged to see that most of the articles talked about worst case scenarios and nightmare experiences.
After her PDM she felt empowered, strong, and sexy! Paige wanted other women to know that they can feel like this too.
She then started sharing her experience on Instagram and quickly realized that there are a lot of other women who felt alone and afraid before their surgeries too.
Through Instagram Paige has formed a community of young women who have been affected by breast cancer in some capacity. Rather than having to sit in a stuffy support group meeting, Paige has started putting events together all over the US where we can get together in a comfortable and fun environment -- She calls it Breasties!
It’s a great way for women in their 20’s and 30’s to get together for the love and support that they need without having to be in a formal support group.
